West Bengal: My observations

Few of my observations regarding WB.

Hindus are wary about growing muslim population and their appeasement but are helpless.

They are open for new leadership but don't like BJP brand of hindutva politics.
Digging deeper they want mooh main ram/rehman and bagal main choori to kill rehman and silently offering jai maa kali.

In other words soft hindutva.

BJP was making serious inroads in WB towards october 2014 but at centre in RAJYA SABHA facing uphill task to break opposition hegemony.

Some backdoor deal happened CBI-SHARDA go slow, show support in centre.
For 2019 bill passing is important, becoming principle opposition party in WB will not add to anything substantial, full majority is still some elections cycle away.

Mamta has done good work in rural bengal, she constructed concrete road in hinterland. Roads are now helping in containing naxalisam.

She distributed rice and grains at 3 rs to very poor families and this food supplies are actually reaching to needy.

In kolkata she has not done much apart from recolouring to blue, but she has put good efforts and focus on new rajarhat township, developed ecopark, wide roads and all necessary civic amenities.

Gave lot of grants and money to para (local) groups in name of culture, sports promotion.

In gorkhaland she break bimal gaurang back by recognising other hill tribes and giving them resources and government money. (bimal gaurang is himself corrupt to hilt as per local people).

Mamta is desperate to develop haldia, salboni, sundarbans region by bringing in industry, but efforts are not paying off as industry is not very interested.

Mamta has now stop yealding to provocation, but is having firm grip on media affairs, total control, sama, dama, dand bhed.

Only ABP group gives her some nightmares, Telegraph is very scathing on her, but I guess it compensate it by equally ridiculing modi government at centre (you need to see some of past 6-7 months headlines "Aunty-National" was one").

Mamta is firmly in seat, but power vacuum is available to gulp serious contenders. You need guts to withstand.

Will be difficult for male with family but fair chance for gutsy female, that's why bjp is playing big on Rupa Ganguly but in bhadrlok she is still a no one.
