There are many dark parts of Indian history which are not taught many have raised atrocities of Delhi Sultanate rulers but there are many more I would like to narrate a few :
A. After Ashoka we suddenly come to Samudragupta with brief interlude by Kanishka this is more than 500-800 hundred years where books are silent.
B. From Samudragupta we come to Harsha and then to Prithvi Raj Chauhan sgain this is around 500 years.
C. We do not study about Kabulshahi, Hindushahi kingdoms of Afganistan, we do not study about Hindu kingdoms of Kashmir particularly Lalitaditya.
D. We do not study about influence of Indians on Chinese for more than 1000 years, the early Buddhist scholars, contribution of people like Padmasambhava Bodhisatva are absent from our history.
The Indian trade through silk route is never taught.
I. Indian influence through trade routes in west is never researched.
E. The destruction of Buddhism in India and rise of Hinduism is never taught.
F. The distinct Buddhist design and tibitian imagery of statues in Badrinath is never taught.
G. Influence of Hindu and India in Arabia is never taught, history of communities like Hussaini Brahmins is never researched or taught.
The attacks and settling of Huns and their amalgamation into Indian society.
The Arab invasion, the Taimur invasion, the nadir shah Invasion and Ahmad Shah Abdali invasion do not get importance they should get.
Even invasion of Mahmud Ghazanavi and Mohd. GORI are taught like mythology their mayhem and destruction of Hindu states and temples is downplayed.
H. Influence of Hinduism and Buddhism, thousands of years of Human contact with Korea, Japan is never researched or taught.
I. The rise of Hindu kingdoms in south east Asia, the sustaining influence of Hinduism in Indonesia, Combodia, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Jawa, Bali is not part of our curriculum.
J. The presence of Indians in Yemen, Qatar, Zanzibar, east Africa and their influence on culture, trade is never taught.
K. The presence and influence of Ethiopeans, of, Habshi, Abbysanians ,Siddhi from Africa in medieval India is never taught
L. History of Jats their migration from Bactria and Afganistan and Iran to India is not part of any scholarly research.
J. The claimed migration of Bappa Rawal to west into Iran and him establishing blood lines which spread into Iran, Afganistan and Central Asia is never researched .
K. How did Hindu survive and remained in majority through history of Bigoted Muslim rulers across India is never researched or taught.
L. Even British atrocities like famines do not get due importance, the enriching of Officials if East India Company and British empire is only a foot note.
J. The IAF bombing Aizwal in 1966, only time that IAF bombed territory and people in India, it has not been used even against Kashmiri, Sikh militants or naxals.
K. How Tawang became part of India in 1949-50 is never taught.
L. The Hindu kings of Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya and adjoining Bangkadesh are not known to even historians.
J. Why tribes in Mizoram, Meghalaya and Nagaland became Christian despite dominant Vaishnav culture in Assam and Manipur, and Shakt culture of Tripura is never taught.
K. How we Indians have neglected and exploited tribal people across India.
L. The history of Karnatka, Konkan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu are foot notes in our history.
M. History of Balochistan, NWFP, Sindh do not get even footnotes in our history.
And many many many many many more...
Addendum :
I would like to add few more to the list :
A. Local support to the invaders is never thaught most are aware of Jaichand supporting GORI but support from Muslim zamindars , jagirdars and leaders to invaders is downplayed.
B. Abdali built JAGADARI Gate in AMBAWALA present day Ambala to commemorate support of Muslim Jagirdars, Najib Khan leader of Rohilkhand open support and fighting on Abdali side are not given importance in curriculum.
C. History of Ahoms the extent of their kingdom, the 800 years of independence, kingdoms in Manipur and Tripura are never taught.
D. Why Manipur did not join Indian Union in 1947 but became part of India in 1949.
E. Major Bob Khating life story as a person responsible for integrating north east into India particularly Tawang is forgotten and he does not even get place in important Indians who helped create India as we know today.
F. Sikkim becoming part of India on 1975 is never explained in details.
G. India's role in pushing Royal family on throne in Nepal over Shahs in 1950 is never taught
.H. India -US operations in Tibet in decades of 1950-1960 is never discussed.
Even role of CIA and Indian intelligence in Dalai Lama's flight from Lahasa to India is never taught.
The above is small list of large number of events and people who do not get space in our curriculum.
